Hancock County Public Library provides you with more than just physical books, DVDs, and video games, we also have multiple online resources and apps that let you have access to digital materials and more. The best part is that it is all FREE with your library card.

 Hancock County Public Library App –  Search our catalog, keep up with your account, view downloads, and register for events right from your phone or tablet.

Overdrive – Check out and enjoy our collection of ebooks and audiobooks right from your device. It also remembers your library card number so you don’t have to enter it in every time!






Hoopla – Never be bored again with this app, which as music, movies, tv shows, audiobooks, and comics.

Zinio – Access some of your favorite magazines without a personal subscription. Some magazines you can view are Elle, Discover, ESPN.  Knits, MacWorld,  National Geographic, Popular Science, and MotorTrend.

Freegal – Legally download music by some of your favorite artists like Adele, The Chainsmokers, Bruno Mars, and Pharrell Williams.





Brainfuse Mobile – Get help with homework on the go. Submit questions to tutors, track assignments, and access your flashcards from anywhere.

Through some stiff competition, these three players came out on top at the end of the day.

Warm Up With a Good Comic Book

As many of you may know, the Teen Room is home to many of your favorite superhero comics. However, did you know that you can access some of these comic books (and some that we don’t physically have) through Hoopla?

Well, you can! Here is just a small sample of what you can find on Hoopla:

Start your Training at the Library

In case you are unaware, HCPL’s 2017 Madden Tournament is on Saturday, January 28. You can sign up for it here.

To train for this extremely competitive event, you need to think football, experience football, and live football. The library is here to help with that.

Get your head in the game by watching some shows or movies that center around football, like these ones: Friday Night LightsWoodlawn, When the Game Stands Tall, Draft Day, The Blind Side, We Are Marshall, Invincible, Facing the Giants, Remember the Titans, and Rudy.

Get inside the mind of a football athlete with some books by these authors: Tim Green, Paul Volponi, Gordon Korman, John Feinstein, Mike Lupica, Perri Klass, John Coy, Sandra Neil Wallace, and Chris Lynch.
