Free Comic Book Day: May 5, 2018

What is Free Comic Book Day

Free Comic Book Day is always on the first Saturday of May. This year that is May 5. It is where comic book shops promote comic books by giving them to patrons for free. It is perfect time to try out comics for those who are newly interested or to discover a new series that may become one of your new favorites.

Where can I get in on this?

Hometown Comics, Greenfield’s local comic shop,??is participating this year, like they have for the last 8 years. According to their event page:

For this one day only each person can pick out 4 of the Special “Free Comic Book Day” comics.
We will also have special guests including local author George Kramer and “The Finest” A G.I. Joe costuming club.
We will also have specials, drawings for prizes and of course Fun.

“What’s a Horse Doing on a Spaceship?”

It’s September and I’m a Week Behind!

It’s already September – 8 days ago! Hope you all had a great weekend and a great start to your month.

I met with the Teen Library Council last Thursday, and they gave me some great ideas for programs and additions to the teen area. If you have some ideas you’d like to share about the library or have things you’d like to see at the library come to our next meeting on Wednesday, October 1, 4-5pm. All you need to do is bring your ideas and I feed you snacks- WIN for you!

This week we have two awesome programs that you definitely need to check out:

Scriptwriting 101:??For anyone interested in scriptwriting! The script is part 1 of a year-long event that will cover all aspects of movie-making (costuming, make-up, camera & lighting, set design). The end result of these workshops will be a mini-movie created by YOU! This summer was the first year we created a student movie. The article below about our student summer movie was featured in the Daily Reporter.

Our second awesome program is for all you Sherlock fans!

Thursday Fandom- BBC’s Sherlock: The game is on!!!

For die-hard fans or for those who haven’t seen the show yet (you’ll be a die-hard fan after 1 episode!), gather all to watch and talk about one of the world’s most famous detectives. Trench coats and deer-stalker caps are encouraged. It’s elementary that we’ll have awesome snacks – like Cumberbatch cupcakes… Eeeee!! 🙂

Have an awesome day, and I’ll see you soon!
