Mindy McGinnis Gives Us Recommendations

During our YA Author Festival earlier this year, nine authors, including author Mindy McGinnis, joined us for panels, workshops, hang out sessions, book signings and a trivia contest. Mindy is a very passionate trivia team leader, in case you were wondering.
She not only gave us good advice on writing and getting published, but she also told us some of her favorite books from our shelves (besides her own, of course)!

After you read her newest book to hit our shelves, The Female of the Species, check out more of her recommendations!Untitled design (1)

Recommendations:

When We Collided by Emery Lord

Anna and the Swallow Man by Gavriel Savit

Becoming Jinn by Lori Goldstein

Marked and Tracked by Jenny Martin

If I was your Girl by Meredith Russo

Jasper Jones: a novel by Graig Silvey

Author Fair Success! & National Novel Writing Month

A big thank you to all who came out for our Author Fair yesterday! We had a great crowd for both the Children’s & Teen panels. You guys asked some great questions, and our authors offered great tips on writing, creating illustrations, publishing, and getting your work out into the world! I hope you all feel inspired to start creating your own stories. We’ll be doing a lot of writing programming at the library in November for National Novel Writing Month, and I hope you all will join us in the fun!

Sign up for free and participate in Young Writers Program of National Novel Writing Month here: http://ywp.nanowrimo.org/ – You can set your word count goal, find fellow writing friends, and keep your novel writing on track. It also gives you daily dares to include in your novel such as Your character’s piggy bank has been stolen, Make one of your characters purchase a costume, Include a parade or a circus in your next chapter, and many others.

Sarah S. and I will be participating in the adult program – writing 50,000 words!!

Start your outlines and developing those brilliant plots and characters, guys!

Sarah, currently thinking about what amazing story she will write 🙂
