2019 Printz Award Winner and Honor Books

Every year the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) awards the Michael L. Printz Award to one YA book that “exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.”

2019 Winner

This year’s winner is The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo. Fittingly in verse, this novel is told by Xiomara who is trying to navigate between who she is and her conservative upbringing. In the end it is the story of how she became The Poet X. It is truly a beautifully written book that you can read through in a day or two.
