How to find a book by subject

The nonfiction collection is organized using the Dewey Decimal Classification System. Here is a chart to show what all those numbers mean.

 

Dewey Decimal Classification System
0-99 General information: computers, encyclopedias, and general reference
100s Philosophy- optical illusions, ghosts, values, and emotions
200s Religion and Mythology- Bible stories, world religions, and myths
300s Social Science- government, military, and folk and fairy tales
400s Language- dictionaries, foreign language, and grammar
500s Science and Math- dinosaurs, experiments, animals, and astronomy
600s Applied Science- cookbooks, pets, human body, and transportation
700s Arts and Recreation- crafts, art, music, and sports
800s Literature- poetry and plays
900s Geography and History- maps, countries, states, and world cultures
