Greenfield Computer Lab

Teens (grade 6 to age 19), play a game-like, self directed tutorial for an hour; and, in the process, learn how to write computer code. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Angry Birds, and Plants vs. Zombies are your teachers.

Teens (grade 6 to age 19), help younger kids keep their reading skills over summer break. Be part of "Teens Read the Way," a weekly program that pairs teen buddies with children, age 3-grade 5. Read with a child and do activities together that encourage a love of books.

You only need to register once for the 6-week series. The final session includes a party for the kids and their teen buddies.

A teens-only volunteer reward party with pizza & a movie follows the buddy party. Signed volunteer service-hour letters will be handed out for your portfolios.

Teens age 9-19, lend a hand by helping make bags full of craft supplies that will entertain young patients during their stay in the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent.

If you'd like, bring unused supplies to donate (coloring books, Crayola crayons, washable markers, colored pencils, washable watercolors or finger paints, stickers, sketchbooks, beading kits, stencils, Fiskars scissors, and scrapbooking supplies).

Learn a technique that transforms pulp from recycled paper into textured sheets with deckled (feathery) edges. The possibilities are endless for making unique cards, invitations, and art pieces that have a personal touch.

We'll also discuss design variations such as color, embossing, and embedding elements in the pulp to give depth and personality.

All supplies are provided for this free workshop. Dress for a mess.

Bring up to ten computer-printed pages of work to read aloud to the group and make six copies for everyone to share. First-time visitors are welcome to sit in and observe.
