Policy on Parental Supervision of Children

The staff of the Hancock County Public Library does not act in the place of a parent.

Parents, guardians and all caregivers are encouraged to share the library experience with their children and to supervise their selection of all types of materials. Parents who wish to place limits on access to certain library materials, services or facilities should discuss these limits with their children. This is not the library's responsibility.

Library operations are based on policies adopted and frequently reviewed by the Board of Trustees. Such topics as collection development, circulation of materials, and borrower privileges are addressed in these policies. These are public policies and are available to anyone upon request.
